 Spend Compliance Management
In less than a decade, online sourcing automation (e-sourcing) has matured from a novel technology to a standard operating procedure for most Global 1000 enterprises. This first wave of e-Sourcing focused on savings identification, with enterprises negotiating double-digit price reductions by creating highly transparent and competitive online bidding environments. Such results caught the attention of C-level executives, many of whom publicly touted the impact e-negotiations were having on their bottom line.
However, a recent AberdeenGroup study of 125 supply management executives suggests that e-sourcing savings have been overstated and under-delivered at most enterprises. Specifically, 60% of enterprises using e-sourcing have been unable to fully implement the savings negotiated online. In fact, in the typical e-sourcing program 20% to 25% of savings negotiated online remains unrealized.
